Capcom's free Monster Hunter Wilds prologue demo is now on the Switch 2 eShop, ahead of the full game's Switch 2 launch on December 4, 2026. According to Nintendo Life, the Switch 2 shows the demo needs around 12.8GB of free space to install.

The demo supports local play, so you can hunt with friends and family who have their own Switch 2, but online multiplayer isn't available in it. Your save data carries over to the full game when it launches. Capcom also said digital pre-orders would open alongside the demo.

The Switch 2 version has full cross-platform play and a Game-Key Card release confirmed, and Japan is getting a Switch 2 bundle with the game. After the December launch, the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion follows in 2027.

Early reactions from players posting under Nintendo Life's article aren't kind to the visuals. One player called the demo very blurry and said many objects turn into "5 fps slideshows" even at fairly close range. Another called the graphics "dreadful" and said playing with the frame rate unlocked made them feel a little sick, and a third said it "looks a bit grainy with high contrast." These are individual player reactions, not a performance test.
